if you see it on the street, it's a replica.
Doesn't make me want it any less.

I have zero issue with these kinds of replicas. Cobras, Porsche RS61s and 550s, GT40s, Jaguar D Types. You'd never get to see one in the metal, and nobody is building them to fool anybody anymore, so it's definitely good for the hobby.

For sure, on both counts.

If I could, I'd build one in a heartbeat. I wouldn't want to drive a practically priceless piece of Porsche history on the road. But this. Heeeeeeeeellllll yes. I mean, it even has wipers.

Exactly. A D Type replica is basically my dream car. I would drive it everywhere. But if I had a real one, I'd be afraid of some dingus in a PT Cruiser running a red light. Granted, I'm afraid of that now and I drive a 12 year old Civic, but still.

Do any of these replicas use 912 or 356 engines or do they just use 1600cc VW engines? If it has a VW engine I'm not interested, but I would love one if it had a four cylinder from a 356 or a 912.

I saw a chrome cobra the other day. Led to my friends trying to think of what it was to me saying its a cobra and then mumbling something about it being a replica

It was probably polished aluminum, one of the prototypes.

I think most are either VW, or Subarus.
